The beautiful "Rose City," which is half-carved and half-built and was once known as Raqmu, is located between the Dead Sea and the Red Sea. Petra is not only known for its famous hewn-in-the-rock monuments but it is also one of the greatest sites in Jordan to visit for hikers and nature enthusiasts, with several walks over the cliffs and into the deep valleys inside the site.
James Price Point is an area of outstanding natural beauty, deep cultural heritage, and even some significant ichnology evidence. The world's largest collection of dinosaur footprints—from at least 21 different species—are said to be found here, prompting some to call this 'Australia's Jurassic Park,' and the 'Cretaceous equivalent of the Serengeti.' And this headland in the Kimberley region of Western Australia has also been the site of environmental activism, when a proposed gas terminal was blocked by a coalition of environmental groups and the Goolarabooloo people, who know this place as Walmadany.
Considered the world’s largest central business district, the steel and concrete canyons of midtown Manhattan are home to a greatest-hits list of iconic buildings. The Chrysler Building, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, United Nations Headquarters, Carnegie Hall, and Madison Square Garden, just to name a few. Special mention goes to the Empire State Building, that Art Deco granddaddy of American skyscrapers.
It’s not all towering office buildings here, though: A great cultural and commercial hub lies within these blocks, with the bright lights of Broadway’s theater district just a few steps from the dazzling show of Times Square, and Fifth Avenue’s tony shops only a block or so away from the tourist crowds at Rockefeller Center.

Planted at the end of a concrete pier that reaches into Lake Superior, the Duluth North Pier Light was placed on the US National Register of Historic Places in 2016. Although the structure may appear rather humble compared to some lighthouses, its inclusion on the historic register is well justified. Built in 1910, the Duluth North Pier Light is considered an especially fine example of an early-20th century breakwater beacon essential for Great Lakes maritime commerce. The waters of the Duluth Ship Canal harbor are notoriously tricky to navigate, and the infamous wreck of the steamship SS Mataafa in 1905 spurred the building of this light on the canal's entrance.
